Upholstery being sewn on an industrial machine

About us

Made here. Made to fit.

Family-owned since 1991. Cut and sewn in Vanceboro, North Carolina, for thirty-five years and counting.

Who we are

Canvas is all we do.

A&J Canvas was incorporated in November 1991 and has worked out of Vanceboro, North Carolina, ever since. We build and repair the canvas and upholstery that keep boats comfortable: bimini tops, T-top canopies, enclosures, covers, clear panels and cushions.

Every piece is measured, cut and sewn here, by people who have been doing it for years. We work in marine-grade fabric, clear vinyl and vinyl upholstery, with stainless hardware that won't rust in salt air.

Lee runs the front and talks through every job. Louise and David lead the sewing floor. If you've called us, you've probably talked to one of them.

Grady-White country

Built down the road from Grady-White.

Grady-White builds its boats in Greenville, half an hour from our door. We've worked on a lot of them, and Grady owners have passed our name around on their forums for more than a decade. If you have a Grady, we know the frame.

How we work

Three things we don't compromise on.

Fit

We pattern from your boat, not a chart. The canvas pulls tight, the zippers line up and the snaps land where they should.

Materials

Marine-grade fabric, UV-stable thread, clear vinyl that stays clear, and stainless hardware. Nothing that will let go in a season.

Straight talk

We'll tell you if a repair will hold or if it's time to replace. You get a price up front and a call when it's ready.
